Remember the Lotus

Whenever you should doubt your self-worth, remember the lotus flower.  Even though it plunges to life from beneath the mud, it does not allow the dirt that surrounds it to affect its growth or beauty.  Suzy Kassem. The lotus flower is considered a sacred symbol.  The Lotus symbolizes purity, beauty, majesty, grace, fertility, knowledge and serenity.  The lotus will fluorish in murky waters, pushing through mud and mire.  The petals break through and reach toward the sun, while the leaves stay afloat as they shine in the light.

Symbolically, lotus petals can be found in the chakra symbols.  Each chakra has a specific number of petals, representing ascending vibrational frequencies.  The state of enlightenment is represented by the thousand-petal lotus.

Difficulty with the sacral chakra often comes from sexual trauma.  It can also come from developmental issues from childhood from lack of identity with our same-sex or opposite-sex parent.  Often adults who had an absent parent as children will have an out of balance or non-functioning sacral chakra.

Those who lack creativity, or are submissive, timid, sexually dysfunctional, or have difficulty in intimate relationships and sexual insecurity have sacral chakras that are either under-active, or have a blocked flow of energy.  Someone with unhealthy sexual boundaries or dominant or aggressive behavior often have overactive sacral chakras.

To balance your sacral chakra, repeat the affirmation, or mantra, daily and release deep-held emotional blockages to free your sacral energy.  Check with your physician for assistance with sexual dysfunction, or other reproductive issues.

If you have suffered sexual trauma, consider contacting a therapist or local support group.  Understand that sexual trauma is not your fault and release the "baggage" that you have been carrying around.  Feel the healing energy of the universe fill your sacral chakra and heal it by visualizing a soothing orange light.

Carnelian is an excellent stone for balancing the energy of the sacral chakra.  Meditate with carnelian, or carry it around in your pocket to gently balance sacral energy.  The scent of orange also energizes and balances the sacral chakra.
