An Exercise in Sensing Your Aura

Sensing subtle energies, feeling or even seeing your aura is not as difficult as you might think.  We are sharing a simple exercise in sensing your aura that you may want to practice from time to time to awaken your innate intuitive gifts.

Hold your hands up in prayer position, approximately six inches in front of you, with the tips of your fingers at eye level.  Focus on the warmth of your palms.  Keeping your hands in the same position, slowly ease your hands apart until you feel the coolness of the air between them.  Now move your hands back toward the prayer position until you feel a warmth or tingling sensation.  If necessary, close your eyes and focus on what you feel between your palms.  What you are feeling is your auric field.

Open your eyes, and hold your focus on the empty space between your palms.  Gaze just above your fingertips until your eyes focus on the view just above your hands.  Do you see any colors?  You may literally see colors . . . or you might "sense" them with your mind's eye.  Whatever color you "see", whether literally or psychically is the dominant color of your aura.  What color(s) do you see?

The dominant color is indicative of your overall personality.  For example, if you are loving in nature, your aura will be green (the color of the heart chakra).  Healers often have an aura that is green in color.  If you are well-grounded, or "down to earth", your aura may will be red (the color of the root chakra), or multi-colored earthtones.  If you are well-spoken, your aura will be blue (the color of the throat chakra).

Whatever the color, your aura should be clear and rich in color.  A murky or "muddy" aura indicates a decreased flow of energy.  Meditation or some form of energy healing (such as Reiki or Crystal Healing) can help increase your energy flow and increase your overall well-being.

Practice looking at your aura in the mirror.  Focus your eyes around your reflection.  Look just above your head and shoulders.  Raise your arms parallel to the floor and look around your torso.  What do you see?  Is your aura bright and clear?  A bright and clear aura is indicative of a healthy energy flow.

Do you have dark areas?  The dark areas indicate a blockage or loss of energy flow.  Where is the blockage located?  Is it over your heart or stomach?  A blockage in a specific region indicates decreased energy flow in one of your chakras.

Perhaps the energy flow is "spiky".  Do you have areas in your aura that extend beyond the general area of your energy field?  These spikes reach out beyond the healthy region of your energy field and indicate an overactive chakra.  Are you "giving away" your personal energy?  Meditation and energy healing can help you take back your personal energy in a healthy and balanced way.

Try looking at the aura of others (with permission only, of course).  The aura is mostly seen around the head and shoulders of an individual.  When in nature -- also with permission ;) -- look at the auras of trees and plants.  The more you practice, the more you will be able to see the auras of others.  Next week, we will share a chart of aura colors for you to save for future reference.
