Remember the Lotus

Whenever you should doubt your self-worth, remember the lotus flower.  Even though it plunges to life from beneath the mud, it does not allow the dirt that surrounds it to affect its growth or beauty.  Suzy Kassem. The lotus flower is considered a sacred symbol.  The Lotus symbolizes purity, beauty, majesty, grace, fertility, knowledge and serenity.  The lotus will fluorish in murky waters, pushing through mud and mire.  The petals break through and reach toward the sun, while the leaves stay afloat as they shine in the light.

Symbolically, lotus petals can be found in the chakra symbols.  Each chakra has a specific number of petals, representing ascending vibrational frequencies.  The state of enlightenment is represented by the thousand-petal lotus.

Historical Use of Crystals and Stones in Healing

Often I am asked why I chose to work with crystals.  Honestly I don't know how to really answer that question.  I have always been attracted to rocks.  When I put a crystal in my hand, I just "feel" something.  It's very difficult to explain.  At times they feel warm, sometimes they feel cool, sometimes they pulsate in my hand.  They can even affect my moods.

I started out as a rock collector. I was so intrigued by the physical sensations that I got from holding a crystal that I just had to have it. Before I knew it, ten years had gone by and I had a collection of over five hundred stones. It was only after I had gathered quite a collection that I began to really study the effects of crystals on my own energy levels. I started taking notes based on my own personal observations. I also read a few books about crystal healing. I have since attended and participated as a healer in crystal healing sessions, and I am a Certified Crystal Healing Practitioner.

Crystals and stones theoretically work with the understanding that all matter/mass vibrates at a specific frequency that is unique to that matter/mass. All matter has a specific energetic "signature". This is based on a scientific law of physics . . . the Law of Conservation of Energy, and specifically of matter/mass. This law states that energy cannot be created nor destroyed, but only changed in form. It further states that energy has an equivalent mass, and that all mass has an equivalent energy. Therefore, a crystal or stone with a specific mass will also vibrate at a specific energetic frequency. This equivalent vibrational energy can travel through, and affect our own energy field and the energies of those around us.

Concerning matter, we have been all wrong.  What we have called matter is energy, whose vibration has been so lowered as to be perceptible to the senses.  There is no matter.   Albert Einstein.

How crystal healers came to understand which stones work for specific illnesses such as negative energy attachments is through years of trial and error, and teachings passed down from generation to generation.  The use of crystals for their specific healing properties dates back to early man, and can be traced as far back as 1500 B.C. through documentation in the Ebers Papyrus in Egypt.  Some even believe crystals were used in the early civilizations of Atlantis and Lemuria.

The Bible mentions the use of crystals in the Breastplate of Righteousness worn by the Levitical Priesthood of the Old Testament.  These crystals were worn as a representation of the Twelve Tribes of Israel. No further use is mentioned other than symbolic.  Use of crystals can be found in other religions as well, including Buddhism and Hinduism, and have been used by Tibetan Monks and Taoists.  Cultures that have used crystals for healing include Native Americans, Mayans, and Samaritans.  Many Earth-based religions incorporate crystals as well.  The use of crystals as symbolic emblems, ritualistic and healing tools can be historically found in virtually every culture.

Using crystals for healing falls in the categories of vibrational medicine, energy medicine, color therapy, spiritual healing and complementary medicine.  Many Spiritual Healers, Intuitive Healers, Reiki Practitioners and Shamans incorporate the use of crystals in their healing methods.  I have been both a patient and a practitioner of crystal healing and have found it to be an effective complementary healing modality.
